Strijp-S welcomes six new street names with a story

Strijp-S continues to grow. In the new Delta development area, six new streets will be added in the coming years. Each of them is named after people who played a significant role in the history of Philips, Eindhoven and Strijp. In this way, the area not only gains new connections, but also keeps its heritage visible in the public space.
Two of the new streets will be named after the first female employees of Philips. In addition, a Philips architect and renowned scientists whose discoveries contributed to the advancement of science and technology will also be honoured with a place on the map of Strijp-S.
The six new street names are:
Professor Hertzstraat – named after Heinrich Hertz, the physicist who demonstrated the existence of electromagnetic waves. His work laid the foundation for wireless communication.
Ir. De Broekertstraat – named after engineer and Philips architect De Broekert, who played a role in shaping Philips’ architectural heritage.
Röntgenpad – a reference to Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, the discoverer of X-rays.
Adriana van Buelstraat – named after Adriana van Buel, one of the first female employees of Philips.
Maria Bogaarsstraat – named after Maria Bogaars, also one of the first women to work at Philips.
Torenallee Zuid – an extension of the existing Torenallee and part of the ongoing development of Strijp-S.
The street names reflect the history of Strijp-S as a former Philips site, where innovation, technology and progress have always been at the heart of development. By adding these names, the stories of the people behind that progress will remain visible for future generations.
The new streets are part of the continued development of Delta, the newest residential district on Strijp-S. Over the coming years, this area will evolve into a vibrant new urban neighbourhood where living, meeting and entrepreneurship come together.
